Convergent and Distinct Effects of Multisensory Combination on Statistical Learning Using a Computer Glove

Learning to play a musical instrument involves mapping visual + auditory cues motor movements and anticipating transitions. Inspired by the serial reaction time task artificial grammar learning, we investigated explicit implicit knowledge of statistical learning in sensorimotor task. Using between-subjects design with four groups, one group participants were provided followed along tapping corresponding fingertip their thumb, while using computer glove. Another additionally received accompanying tones; final two groups sensory (visual or auditory) but did not provide response—all together following 2 × design. Implicit was measured response time, whereas assessed probe tests. Findings indicate that best only single modality, when all three modalities involved.
